    Cocktail Bars in Milan

Opened by Davide Campari in 1915, this historic aperitivo bar stands at the entrance to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Its ornate interiors and bitter-led drinks make it a defining expression of Milan's drinking culture.

    The Story

    Origin

Davide Campari opened Camparino in 1915 in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, extending his family's earlier association with the arcade and with Milanese café culture.

    Philosophy

Preserve the social ritual of the Milanese aperitivo while allowing contemporary cocktail technique to develop around it.

    Why Important

Camparino is a foundational reference for the relationship between a drinks brand, a city and a hospitality venue. Its significance lies in making the aperitivo a lived urban ritual rather than simply a cocktail category.

    Differentiation

Its combination of Campari family history, a landmark Galleria setting and a continuing focus on bitter aperitivo drinks is exceptionally difficult to replicate.

    Food Philosophy

Small savoury preparations accompany the aperitivo, with food supporting the interplay of bitterness, refreshment and sociability.

    Guest Experience

The historic Bar di Passo offers a direct encounter with Milan's standing-bar tradition. Sala Spiritello provides a more considered, seated cocktail experience.

    Design Philosophy

Historic decorative craftsmanship establishes the venue's identity, while its contemporary hospitality offer keeps it from functioning solely as a heritage attraction.

    Design & Architecture

    Lighting

Decorative lighting contributes to the historic atmosphere.

    Furniture

The standing counter is fundamental to Bar di Passo, while the upstairs salon supports seated service.

    Materials

    Mosaic, wood, metal and glass.

    Architecture

Occupies a prominent position at the Duomo entrance to the monumental Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

    Design Language

Italian Liberty-era ornament paired with contemporary cocktail hospitality.

    Interior Design

The historic ground-floor bar is distinguished by decorative mosaics, crafted woodwork and ornamental metalwork.

    Graphic Identity

The Camparino name draws its recognition from its longstanding relationship with Campari and the Galleria.
