    My London, in three addresses

People often ask me where they should go in London. My honest answer is never a list of the newest openings. It is the places I return to, the ones that feel the same on a rainy Tuesday as on a birthday. Here are three of them.

Each one is a lesson in what we celebrate at Hospitality Brandbook: consistency, a sense of place and service that feels personal. None of them paid to be here. They are simply the rooms I love most in my city.

    Claridge's

    Claridge's

    Mayfair · London

There is a moment, just past the revolving door, when London goes quiet. The black and white floor, the Art Deco lines, the soft hum of the Foyer at teatime. Claridge's never tries to impress you, and that is exactly why it does. I go for tea, I stay for the people watching, and I always leave feeling a little more elegant than when I arrived.

    5 Hertford Street

    Shepherd Market · London

Behind an unmarked door in Shepherd Market is my favourite kind of London: a warren of small rooms, candlelight, old paintings and conversations that last far longer than planned. It feels less like a club and more like a very glamorous private house. Dinner upstairs, then down to Loulou's if the night insists.

    The Connaught Bar

    Mayfair · London

Silver, grey and pale pink, with the martini trolley gliding towards you like a small ceremony. Ask for theirs, choose your bitters, and watch it poured from a height. It is theatre, but never loud. For me it is the most beautiful way to end an evening in London.
