A landmark Rocco Forte hotel on Via del Babuino whose terraced garden gives central Rome an unusually private outdoor social space. It is a key reference for the city's transition from traditional grand hotels toward relaxed, design-conscious urban luxury.
The historic Hotel de Russie dates to 1816. Its current chapter began in 2000, when it reopened under Rocco Forte Hotels, bringing a more contemporary interpretation of luxury to a celebrated Roman address.
The hotel balances the character of a historic Roman property with the ease of a contemporary city retreat. Privacy and conviviality are treated as complementary parts of the experience.
Hotel de Russie helped establish a modern model of Roman luxury in which landscape, design and local social relevance are as important as formal service. It remains a useful reference for integrating a destination bar, restaurant and wellness offer into a heritage city hotel.
The garden is not merely decorative landscaping. It supplies the hotel's central social space and its most persuasive sense of escape, within walking distance of Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps.
Italian and Mediterranean dining is closely tied to the setting. Le Jardin de Russie and the Stravinskij Bar make the garden a place for meals, aperitivi and extended social encounters.
Guests move from Via del Babuino into quieter courtyards and a terraced garden. Shopping and cultural visits can be balanced with outdoor dining, drinks and time in the hotel's spa.
Classical references are edited through a lighter, more contemporary lens. The garden acts as the organizing feature, softening the boundary between a busy city address and a sheltered internal world.
Daylit garden-facing spaces shift into a more intimate atmosphere for evening dining and drinks.
A mixture of classically informed and contemporary pieces, with outdoor seating central to the public-space experience.
Marble, stone, wood and upholstered textiles, with planted terraces providing an important visual counterpoint.
A historic street-front property opening onto a terraced garden that rises behind the hotel toward the Pincian Hill.
Contemporary Roman classicism, with restrained glamour and strong garden connections.
The modern interiors combine classical motifs, tailored upholstery and considered color rather than reproducing a uniformly antique environment.
