Founded by Henry Flagler in 1896, The Breakers combines the scale of an American grand resort with an Italian Renaissance architectural vocabulary. Its oceanfront grounds, beach club, golf and extensive dining sustain a self-contained Palm Beach institution.
The Story
Origin
Henry Flagler opened the original hotel in 1896. Following fires and rebuilding, the present main building opened in 1926 to designs by Schultze & Weaver.
