A Japanese restaurant and destination cocktail bar that interprets the cultural crosscurrents of 1920s Osaka through jazz, richly textured interiors and inventive drinks.

    The Story

    Origin

Opened in Dubai in 2021, Mimi Kakushi draws its narrative from an Osaka transformed by Western music, fashion and nightlife during the early twentieth century.

    Philosophy

Japanese references meet an outward-looking cocktail culture, with music and storytelling connecting the restaurant and bar.

    Why Important

It illustrates Dubai's growing influence in destination cocktail culture beyond conventional luxury hotel lounges.

    Differentiation

A restaurant-bar hybrid whose cocktail programme has developed international recognition independently of its dining offer.

    Food Philosophy

Japanese cooking is presented in a contemporary restaurant format, making dinner a substantial part of the experience rather than an accessory to drinks.

    Guest Experience

Guests can move from cocktails to a full dinner within a layered, low-lit room with a strong musical identity.

    Design Philosophy

The interior evokes a period of cultural exchange without attempting a literal historical reconstruction.

    Design & Architecture

    Lighting

    Warm, low-level lighting.

    Furniture

Upholstered seating and closely arranged dining tables.

    Materials

    Wood, upholstery and decorative glass.

    Design Language

    Japanese-inflected retro glamour.

    Interior Design

Timber screens, patterned surfaces and intimate seating create a sequence of richly detailed spaces.
