Founded during Johannesburg's gold-rush years, Rand Club occupies a monumental historic clubhouse in the city centre. Its membership, dining rooms and cultural events give a complicated colonial-era institution a continuing contemporary role.
Founded in 1887 shortly after Johannesburg's emergence as a mining settlement, Rand Club was closely associated with the city's mining and commercial establishment. Its current clubhouse opened in 1904.
